Jonathan Boruch, 31, Tragically Dies After Confrontation with Police in Northwest D.C.

Jonathan Boruch, a 31-year-old resident of North Bethesda, Maryland, tragically passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, following a violent confrontation with law enforcement officers in Northwest D.C.

The incident began around 10:53 a.m. when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on the 5100 block of Sherier Place, NW. Victims at the scene reported that Boruch had threatened to return home and cause damage to vehicles.

Just after noon, Boruch arrived at the residence while officers were still investigating. Police said he was armed with two knives and immediately charged at the officers. Despite multiple verbal commands and the use of an electronic control device, Boruch continued to advance toward the officers. In response, two officers discharged their service weapons, striking Boruch.

Despite life-saving efforts by D.C. Fire and EMS personnel, Boruch was pronounced dead at the scene. The knives were recovered as evidence, and both officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation unfolds.

The community is left with heavy hearts as the investigation continues, and the family has yet to announce memorial service details.
